Default LS1 power

Hey guys,

My name is Josh and I had a question or two concerning the 01 Corvette LS1 and LS6. I plan on buying a C5 Vette in November or December. I can't afford a Z unless I get real lucky, which probably wont happen. My question is about the power difference between the two engines and what I can do to my Base Corvette Coupe to get to the 405Hp(or more) mark without F/I? I was told by a few people that bolt-ons(ie CAI, full exhuast, etc) wouldnt get me to that mark. I was also told that it is quite easy with bolt-ons and possibly a cam upgrade. Thanks for any information you guys will be able to supply me.

Josh

01 LS6 rated at 385bhp with about the same in TQ. Long tube headers , CAI, and a good tune have been known to yield 45-50hp..........

FI is another route but since the compression ratio is higher (LS2 is 10,9:1) and I dont see the LS1's ratio being much lower you would have to use a lower psi . You want 400hp , get the ZO6 and you will thank yourself for it...

Fastphilly aka C6 Vette on MF.....Good luck!!!!!

You can easily keep up with one if you get all or most bolt-ons and a good dyno tune. Or you can walk a Z06 if you get a decent sized cam in there for another few hundred bucks. But your mpgs will take a hit.

Thanks guys,

Fastphilly, I guess you know who I am. I am seriously contemplating a 02 Z right now. It would only be around 500/mo payments. not that bad considering I barely have any bills. We'll see.
