Gasket help for 98 block and 317 heads?
The search is acting retarded so I figured I'd just post up. Does anyone know which head gasket to used on a set of stock 317 heads (alumn. lq9's) and a 98 block? This is for a forced induction setup BTW. I lost my home internet connection so I won't be able to post up for a while so TIA to all those who reply

It`s my understanding on the 6.0 heads you have to use the 6.0 specific gasket no matter what block you put it on. With the 6.0 heads being for a 4" inch bore CC`s and the LS1 block being a 3.9 bore block, you can`t use the LS1 specific gaskets.

use some gasket for the 98 LS1, some guys say you can use the muti layered steel gaskets with 98s (and do use them), others say you cant use them with 98 blocks for some reason.
my suggestion would be to get gaskets to fit the 98 LS1 block, if you get 6.0 gaskets im pretty sure you would have a gap in there that would not be good.

Use the 6.0 MLS gaskets. 98 heads have a notch but you dont have to worry about it. You can have the bigger gasket bore there it wont hurt. I remember reading somewhere you can have up to a certain amount... Guitsboy should know, I remember reading one of his post about. I am pretty sure you use 6.0 specific gasket to matching heads.
