Default Anyone run a Comp 265 xer?

Have a buddy trying to sell me a comp 265 xer. Specs are 212/218 .522,.529 on 112. Mods are in sig. I am just wanting something to add some torque and still use ls6 springs. If you or anyone you know have run this cam, please chime in.

That is not a XER, that cam has the same lobes as the venerable 216/220
It will work fine on LS6 springs and will make good torque in mid>low range.

Just remember that you are not limited as far as choice goes on cams. I would research a little bit more and get a few grinds that tickle your fancy as far as performance and driveability. Custom grind might end up being your best option, but who knows.

What defines a cam with xer lobes (no huge discussion required as I have a general idea xr,xer, lsk? I asked him again and he said he had the cam card. Next of all, the reason I am so interested in this cam is because I drive 300-500 miles per week and dont want to deal with a big radical cam. (Before I hear anything about big cams being driveable, I have been around plenty and there are always pros and cons). OH, not to mention the cam and springs/retainers are new and he told me he would turn loose of it for $225. There is no way I could get a custom cam for that money. Thanks for the input and Im not trying to argue, Im just trying to understand.

The cam is XR-265-HR (lobes 3751 and 3752)

The smallest amount of lift for a XE-R cam is .581 and lobe # 3720

Basicaly the cam you are looking at has what we call lazier ramp rate, it is very spring friendly and with proper matching combo can deliver good street power.

I see. I didnt know where the xer lobes started in lift. One more question and then I'll let it go, what do you consider a properly matched combo for this cam (heads are not an option). My car is an 01.

To make it optimized, I would yank the heads, put on a .040 cometic gasket.
That should make your DCR in the 8.6x range and give you ~10.5 SCR. It will also better your quench for less detonation. Also degree the cam.
That would mean a good 10>15 rwhp.
otherwise your setup is good. Maybe a ported TB, and a LS6 intake if you don't already have one.
