Out the bottom is the only way to go. Ive done it a couple times. I'd drop the motor just to do an intake, so much easier and saves your knuckles.
Acouple things to add... disconnect the starter because the wire harness goes arround an A/C line, and you dont have to go into the car to disconnect wires just remove the pcm and pull the wires through the firewall they are just long enough. I cut a length of chain that was just long enough to hook onto the sway bar mounts and be just above the radiator.

I dont see any problem with Toofazt's setup. The rear wheeles are nicely rested in the rims. And when the car is sitting on the stands and ramps all its doing is resting there for a minute while you slide the motor out. Almost the way I did it but I have some really tall jackstands.

I drop them just to change valve springs. can get them out in less than 1.5 hours
