Low oil pressure...

alright guys.. when cold im seeing 40 psi at idle, and around 54 psi at cruise. once its warmed up i only see 22 psi at idle and 40 at cruise... thats awefully low isnt it?

HPE 408 w/ ported ls1 pump.

has a brand new oil pressure sending unit that i put in when i tore the heads down last weekend. (gauge has been broken in half since about a week after i built the motor but it had good pressure back then)

any ideas? it does have a slight oil leak (about a drop a day) coming off the back of the block we cant trace down. think it might have been the oil pressure sending unit because it hasnt been leaking since i put the new one in.

id say those numbers would be normal if using any type of m1, i think there is a spring you can change to up the oil pressure.. the porting just gives more volume -as far as i know..

I used the brown spring if I remeber correctly. I use german castrol 10w40 in the 422 at start up its 60-65 psi and warm its 50-56 wot -75-80 ish This is on a slp pump.
