Default Another "Help me choose thread"

hey guys, first off thanks for your time, i know there are thousands of these threads.

i got a 2002 Corvette A4.

Mods are:

LG Pro Longtubes, No Cats
B&B Bullets
Zip tie (soon to be VaraRam)
3.42 Gears
Fast 90 with LS2 intake (uninstalled)

Im going to be doing a head/cam soon, and can decide between the Magic Stick 4 or the Torquer 3. I LOVE the sound of choppy cams *like the Trex* . I work from home, and only use my car for going to the gym or going to a friends house and the occasional short cruise.

Im getting the PRC LS6 heads with the competition valve job.

I dont want to run to high of a stall (less than 4000). i had a TCI Streetfighter in a trans am and didnt care for it, it was to loose. I've been told that a Yank or Vig you can run a high stall *3600-4400* and they are still tight like a factory convertor, TRue???

i also dont want my car cutting off at redlights, which shouldnt be a problem cause i have a good tuner.

so which cam do you guys think would be best for my application?? MS4 or TQ3??

Yes a T-rex is very streetable with your setup. I have one with a TH400 and 3200 stall, 3.23 gears. The only thing I would like is another gear for highway cruising.

really?!?!? thats great news

i always thought Trex needed 4.10's or maybe even 4.30's

i thought i was pretty much set on the G5X3, i might now have to do some research on the Rex

You might have a bucking issue at the most, but I would only do a T-rex if you are wanting high horsepower and lower tq. So it is streetable if you want to put up with it. I DD a 244/248 cam which streetwise has some T-rex manners. It really does need a taller gear to be honest with you. I would atleast run a 4000 stall in it.

Why not a custom grind? Any reason you want a larger cam?
I understand for the most part why, but You might be able to do so much better just by calling a sponsor and finding out what would work best with your planned setup. A Cam will determine everything....just think about it and get lots of opinions and if possible drive some cars that have similar setups. that will help you pick too.

If you are getting it for an overlap feature then maybe you should figure out what you like. Similar overlaps are going to sound alike. Choppy cams aren't necessarily the best cams. Although it does sound cool.

well i have to be honest. a good part is i want that super choppy sound.

i also want to be as fast as i can for as cheap as i can. i'd like to be in the low 11's high 10's without N20

the lack or low end torque should be fixed by that 4K plus stall right???
