Default anyone had this problem?

trying to get my running again after a year and a half.
car started on 1st try. idles high, and like crap.
here's my problem.

the engine gets hot rather fast. (ambient temp was mid 60's yesterday)
past 220 then slowly made it's way to the 3/4 mark.
(all of this is idle time.)
car has 9300. miles on it.
installed ported 5.3's and a 220 @ .050 cam. ls6 intake. underdrive pulley.

now, i understand how underdrive pullies work. some of my observations.

1st, i did this install following ls1howto.com instructions (like most people on this board did their 1st time)

i did the leave the x over pipe loose to burp the cooling system however, i never got any coolant out...

after i ran the car up to the 3/4 temp mark shut it off. i noticed there wasn't a drop of coolant in the hose that attaches to the waterpump..odd.

am i missing something?

Did you put the head gasket on upside down? You might be blocking some vital coolant passage.

(i am used to this with my sbf head swaps)
