Default Best Cam for TEA Trickflow heads?

I've seen the thread that discusses the 3 cams you can buy as a package with these heads.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ick+flow+heads

Here is TEA's recommended cam: TFS Stg 2 cam is a 220/224 .575/.575 112+4

I know there are a ton of tech guys on here and wanted to know if you guys
had any thoughts on a better cam for these heads. I'm running a stock
bottom end with an LS6 intake and kooks 1-7/8" headers. I also have the 3.42 gears.

I'm wanting all low end power. Something crisp and responsive from idle or
1500 up to 5500 rpm. Thats where I will drive it and thats where i want to
feel the power.

Head flow numbers 215 runners
I E
0.2 138 118
0.3 218 187
0.4 272 231
0.5 308 252
0.55 318 258
0.6 324 262

Based on Brian's thread, it looks like you are making the right choice.

I was reading some of Jrods threads and he was saying some of these cams favor the intake to much. Any idea if that is the case with this cam?

I think I'll get these heads with a custom ground version of a G5X2. Gonna grind in more lift and more timing on a lower LSA than stock.

We talked yesterday about it, that's why. It's for more low-end power, not top-end.

What size are you looking at if you dont mind giving some of it away? What do you like about the G5 vs. TEA's cam?

Keeping with the 232/240 split of a standard G5X2, but doing the intake on an LSK lobe, which makes it something like .646/.609, although I might stick to stock X2 specs on a 112 +2.

I have those heads, and I use a Crane 228/232 @112+5 cam. My numbers are below, but what they don't say is how hard it pulls from idle up. I have plenty of low-end, and these heads are capable of huge flow, so if you limit your fun to 5500 rpms, maybe you could save yourself some $$ and get small port heads, such as the TSP 200cc ones.

5500rpm ? I hit the rev limiter with my stock cam 6200
about your cam selection I understand what your saying 1500- 5500, your driving range , but dont be afraid of pulling to a little higher rpm.

If your wanting all low end power, trade the 1 7/8 for 1 3/4....You need more cubes to benefit from the 1 7/8...I have the same headers...had them first on stock motor with 230/236 591/601 with be hive springs and some mods...lost my bottom end..just my 2 cents....

I have these heads as well. I am running a 230/230 cam but if my car was a daily driver I would go with Brian’s recommendation and go with the TFS Stg 2 cam.

Lets ask this question: With TFS heads, stage 2 cam and stock rearend what will this setup run in the quarter?

other stuff: kooks headers,ORY,LS6 intake, spec clutch.
