Default What head gaskets should I run??

I am tearing my car down again to do some fine tuning. I am currently running AFR 205's milled .0020 with Patrick G torque cam 228/232 588/592 on 110+1. I have been running the GM head gaskets without any problems. I would like to increase compression a bit and I know the Cometic gaskets are pretty good.

Any advise as far as thickness to go with or manufactor of some other head gaskets that would work well with my combo.

I appreciate your help!!

Thanks,

J.R.

This is what I have found out for the 5 people who have viewed this post. The GM head gaskets are .056 thick vs. the Cometic gaskets are .045. This should help achieve a bit more compression. I am getting some Cometics.

On my H/C swap I used felpros 1041 .041 thick gaskets. I had an issue with seepage around the head studs so I called felpro and the tech there said those gaskets have to be heat cycled and re-torqued two times. I assumed, wrongly that they were permatorques. I swapped them out for a pair of SCE solid copper gaskets .043 thick from summit racing. I coated them 3 times with copper spray and installed them. SCE says they only recomend 1 re-torque. Much less work IMO!! No leakage from them at all.

Been running cometics with a light coat of copper spray for a while now. They've been nothing but great. And GM gaskets are .052-.054 compressed.

Cometics are nice, nut pricey. Like artic said, GM gaskets tend to run .052-.054 regardless of weather theyre graphite or MLS, even the 5.7L MLS gaskets measure out arond .052-.054, even though theyre advertised at .060
