How big? I would say that at 224 intake duration or higher your bottom end is going to be a little soggy, as it will take you longer to get up into your powerband. If really big is how you want to go, think about doing the verter first. Then again I'm an M6 guy, so what the h... do I know?

Well to tell you the truth I'm not sure which cam yet. I really don't know JACK about cams as far as specs. I did talk to one guy that's running a setup similar to what I want and I think he had a 224/224 or something like that, but I really don't know what I want. I don't know what's big. All I know is I'm goin with TEA Stage 2, probably the 5.3 heads, then a cam, and I'll eventually have all the bolt-ons, so I want plenty of power. Man I just wish this was easy. I mean damn, a good converter would cost me at least $700, then I'd might as well do a shift kit and then a trans cooler too.

Why don't you get the stall first, then save for the H/C ?

Yeah the whole setup may be pricey but I would build toward what you want. Even with your stock engine a 3500 or so stall would work nicely now until you can save another $1K or so and go ahead with your H/C combo.

Otherwise if you compromise on your cam now to suit your stock converter and gears you may not be happy later. However something like a 218 to 220 cam will make good power with S2 heads while keeping your off-idle power a bit crisper.
