Default Quick question about valves....

I'm getting ready to replace lifters, springs, and pushrods. While the heads are off, obviously I'd like to clean 'em up. Will I be okay to clean the valves or will it mess up the seal at the seat? Would I have to get a valve job or lap the valves back in? Do I have to maintain the same position they are in right now? Thanks

I imagine you'd be just fine as long as you keep track of which valve went where. The stock valves and valve job has a really good mating surface so you could spin the valves and have no issues.

I would clean them up not touching the sealing surface of the valve or seat in the process so you don't accidentally scratch this area. I would also lap them with only fine or very fine (I used 600 grit which is ultra fine) to check for coloring. Make sure you don't mix up the valves, make sure you get all the lapping compound off the valve and seat.

If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, that will clean things better than new.
