they did not know the preload information and really didnt want to check it out.

They did not know the coil bind..

They put parts in which they recommended to me and then didnt really adjust them. They offered to tear down the motor again after they tried to put straigh 50 weight oil in to shut her up. After that little trick from them.. I decided I didnt want them touching my car anymore.

I brought it to a older shop I used to use.

We shall see.

Well, sounds like they need to take their sign down and put one up that says "Parts Store". Sorry to hear that you got tail ended like that.

no problem. I live and learn.

If I knew more about cars and mechanical work.. i could save myself a TON of money. But unfortunately, I just want to go fast and I dont know much about mechanical stuff so I lay prey to ******** out there.

Ask them for the actual specs, as the other said, the lifter preload specifically. Preferably numbers for both intake and exhaust if theyre on different lobes as I think pred said. If youre in the .070 - .100 range, look elsewhere for your noise issues, but if youre closer to like .020 preload, some longer rods might help. A lot of shops recommend pushrods a little short. I dont know if they just want to err on the side of caution or what, but it happens quite frequently.
