Cam Suggestions
I'm considering a few mods for my car (02 Z06). My Z is a 15,000 mile weekend only car. I'm not into drag racing, I just want a little more power. Right now I have a Callaway Honker and a Borla cat back. I'm thinking about adding longtube headers, a FAST 90/LS2 TB, and a cam only (no new heads on this motor). With the cam I want a nice lope at idle, and a nice linear powerband, but I want everything to work in traffic too. Based on my current and planned mods what cam would you suggest? Let me know if you have any ideas, good or bad, about this setup.

This is a really broad spectrum to cover. The amount of replies on what the "suggested cam" should be.... are unfortunately endless. Therefore leaving you with 200,000 choices.
If you ask me I am gonna tell you that you should probably look somewhere in the range of 226-232 as far as duration. You are not planing on any kind of nitrous or forced induction I don't think. The split of the cam will probably be a reverse pattern like a 232/230 or a 230/228. However I have had all of my cams a traditional split like 222/226, 224/228, 224/230, and 244/248. Nitrous was in mind at first, but these cams all work really well N/A as well. the 224/230 does get the daylights sprayed out of it though.
If you are looking for something that you just can't go wrong with and has a nice sound as well as street manners and performance.....I am going to have to lean you in the direction of the 224/224 cam. Thunder and TSP have a version of this cam. It is really good cam and people lay down some great power with it running cam only.
If you are still unsure after getting a few replies, I would advise that you read the "Cam Guide" sticky at the top of this forum for a better grasp on cams and what/what does on "x" setup's.

Thanks for the advice. I know that a suggested cam will get 5 different responses out of 5 different people, but I just need a push in the right direction. I read the cam guide and while I can understand what it says I can't apply it as far as picking one out. (Nothing on a car confuses me like a cam) I plan on riding up to Vengeance Racing soon and talking with them. I've heard good things about them here and on Corvette Forum.
