Default cam help

I just put a cam (gm hot cam 219 228 525) in my car and i tuned it as best i could with the crane cams tuner. it idles fine in park but as soon as i put it in gear it dies immediately. it idles in park at 900 (turned up idle via programmer) the temp gauge is also acting up. it says its hot when it not. there doesnt seem to be a power difference. please help me thanks

I would advise you sell the handheld and get it dyno tuned at a local shop. Not trying to be a bitch, but those hand held things are pretty much good for a stock application. I haven't really found too many people that keep them after a cam swap. I would honestly not recommend any of those tuners to anyone. Get the LS1 Edit/ Hp Tuners/ EFI Live tune on the dyno. That is your best bet for being able to run correctly. You might be leaving power and tq on the table as well. Just my $0.02.

Also, Have you tried it with a different MAF? Say a stocker? That might be your problem too. Just a thought though.

I got the temp problem out of the way, now the dang thing won't idle in gear. if I barely press on the gas it will not die and drives fine. a speed shop told me to drill a hole 1/16 bigger than stock (repeat 2-3 if nessacery) in the TB to help idle in gear. custom tuning is the way to go, so if you guys know someone in CA Let me know.

Stay away from whoever told you to drill a hole in your TB plate...they do not have a clue..if you drive your car for a couple of hundred miles it will learn. a dyno tune will get you dialed in for maximum output but there are some other tuning issues that will have to be done for it to act right in normal driving situations..put the drill away.. ..my guess is that you do not have it full of coolant for your tempature problems..you can disconnect the coolant line for the throttle body and pour in coolant till it comes out of that line...that gets it pretty full...reconnect that line and let it idle with the radiator cap off and get all of the air out of it..it will take a few times to get it all out..
