Default G5x2 cam, what head to go with

I still need a rear and suspension under the car, but if a good deal came up on the set of heads I needed why not right.

Well here's the deal. I have a full bolt on cam only car and as stated in the title it's a g5x2. I dynoed at 426/394, and am just trying to spec out what type of heads would work well.

I've been hearing a lot about the LS2 243 heads and was looking at those. They are relatively cheap, at about 500 bucks you can find em. Well if there are anything else out there just throw it out there. Any help is welcomed. Thank you

wow those are great cam only numbers......what are the specs on that cam? And are you going for budget heads?

The specs on the cam are 232/240 595 608 on a 114+2.....I MAY have the dyno sheet, but I spilled h20 on it a couple weeks back and may have saved it on my PC or is still on my digital camera. I was happy with the cam only numbers. And what do you consider a budget head. I would probably when the time comes not mind spending 1500 bucks on a set of heads. But if I could make the same power with a set of 1000 heads wouldn't that be more economical

Tell me a bit more about these Livernoid 243's. I've done slight research and it talked about flycutting, and milling. Would I need to flycut with the livernois 243's???

You don't NEED to. They're a ported LS6 head. It's not that anyone NEEDS to. They'll fit just fine with a G5X2. It's just that with almost every head out there, you want max compression, and that typically includes flycutting. When I called LGmotorsports once and TEA a different time, both companies basically laughed at me for being scared t flycut and said, "That's fine. You're leaving 25hp on the table though."

Wow, incredible 25 horsepower left on the table without flycutting. Hummmmmm flycutting pistons though you can't run as high a nitrous shot right??? Flycutting and spray runs the risk of breaking easier right? I guess I'm like you in a sense in being scared to flycut lol

Nah, spray wasn't in the equation. And I can't see it being a full 25hp. But seriously, when you choose your heads and cam, and are calculating your static and dynamic compression, I don't see how you can reach optimal numbers without milling the heads. But that probably won't matter on an X2. Just call LG and see.

I guess that 505 HP seems to be a pretty nice accomplishment. I was looking at those AFR 205 heads. They run something like 2300 bucks don't they? Pretty damn expensive guys

Lots of people are happy with their results from a PRC stage one 243 head from Texas Speed, hard to beat for just under a grand. Patriot Performance also has some great 243 head options and excellent customer service reviews.

Why not the TSP Dart Stage II heads (just make sure to get better seals). Flow 320cfm and only cost 1600 (unless you need to upgrade the springs, the ones that come with it are good to .625). Shouldn't have clearance issues either.

The TSP LS6 Stage I's are a bargain as well (PRC's as other people call them), although I hear you sacrifice a bit on the lower end on these heads.

TSP messed up the Darts and hasn't removed them from their site yet for some reason. They were junked.

the livernois stage 1 head uses stock valves, so i cant see a need for flycutting compared to anyone elses head, there stage 2 is a 2.02 intake, once again cant see why you would need to, maybe on the stage 3 race heads, being its a 2.08, and i have seen dozens and dozens of their heads and their milling job is some of the best i've seen

Livernois Stage 2 also have 2" valves. The springs and CNC are different.
I had to flycut on my G5X3 with 243 heads milled .030" (Livernois stage 2). Not because it would hit, but because it would be closer than the recommended clearance.
