Default Oil pump drive???

What drives the oil pump??? Seems the mechanic at my local dealer says its the crank pully ( I'm sure only cause I have a ASP pully) but does the pully actually drive the pump????

Default Re: Oil pump drive???

The oil pump is driven by the lower timing chain gear. This gear is driven by the crank shaft via a single keyway in the crank shaft mating to a groove in this lower gear. The crank pulley does not drive the oil pump!
