Default Replace '98 piston/rod with '01 piston/rod

Ok, I'm trying to piece together a full motor from some parts from various motors. So I have two bad rods in the original '98 vette motor that need to be replaced. Also, I have 6 rods and pistons from a '01 Z06 motor that I can use as replacements. My question is then, can I just put the whole rod and piston assembly from the '01 LS6 into the '98, rebalance it and call it good, or should I get some '98 pistons or '01 LS6 pistons to get a complete set of each. The reason I'm asking is because I took a look at both sets and the pistons are physically different in each set. The rods look to be the same, but the pistons are undoubtablly different. I've attached some pictures to look at. In each picture the piston on the left is the '01 LS6 and the piston on the right is the '98 LS1. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
