Default Titanium Valves??!!!

Well guys, I spoke with a renowned sprint car engine builder today about building me a killer set of cylinder heads for my LS1. I won't go into all the details, but he suggested a ported LS6 head with titanium valves. Just curious if anyone is running titanium valves? What are the downsides to titanium valves? Are there any aftermarket companies that currently offer a head that is complete with titanium valves at this time?

Titanium valves are optional on ET performance heads, and they come stock in the LS7 heads used in the 06+ Z06. The only down side I belive is that you have to run wear caps with the Ti valves, but double check on that one becuase im not 100% sure. Other than that there isnt any downsided I can think of.

Titanium valves are definitly better. They are much lighter so you can rev the engine higher and use lighter springs without floating the valves. As said, you do need some sort of hardened tips, either lash caps or Ti valves with hardened tips installed. Titanium valves are also VERY expensive, around $1000 for a set of 8 LS7 intake valves. However, for LS1 heads on a street motor, regular stainless valves are good enough, or you can go with hollow stem valves to drop some weight.

Another vote here for hollow-stem valves over the Ti valves.

Definately not where the bank for the buck is man, especially on a street car where you'll see very very little benifit.

I'd only use them if your running a huge valve, or if you plan to spin your motor to 7500+ rpms. The hollow stems are a great light weight valve and their more cost effective. However, stainless has been used in these heads for years with no problem. Just make sure the set-up isn't super crazy.
