Default Bent push rod, do I have one?

Hello, this is my first post. I've lurked here for a few weeks and it seems like this is the best place on the net to get tech help.

Since I bought my 01 C5 this summer I have noticed a clicking noise while driving. It varies with engine rpm, and seems to be more audible between 1-2k. It isn't THAT loud but I can hear it from inside. When I get out to listen with the hood up I hear nothing. It seems to go away under 1k.

If it was a bent rod would it always make a noise, and would I definately be able to tell with my head under the hood? Would it be more pronounced, or at least still audible, at idle? I haven't had any problems with the noise so far, but I've just been curious. If it is a bent rod, what are the potential problems I could run into assuming I don't overrev the car?

Thanks guys

Easiest way to check is to pull the valve covers and check em out.

Sorry, but the only engines I've ever really worked on are sport bike engines in race cars I helped build in college. Do I have to remove the rockers to check this? If so, is the reassembly process difficult?

It's pretty easy actually. You can just use the guide at http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23. It's a cam swap guide, but you can use it for seeing how to pull the VC's, starting with the instructions for removing the plug wires a little way down the page.
