806 heads to 241 heads
currently has 806 heads on it... i got some 241 bare heads for basically nothing. looks like there was some mild clean up work done to them on the bowls and runners.
Would I be gaining any HP at all by just swaping heads? I know I would gain more with a port job (which I might do considering they are bare right now). I just wanted to know if there were any gains at all going from these heads to the 241's.
Also, would there be a benifit by going with bigger valves?
Bigger valves could show more flow, but unless they're ported it may not be worth it. You'll also give up some PTV clearance with the bigger valves in them.
If you could get a good valve job on them, some really light port work, and have them decked you could probably see another 25hp or so out of them.

Also the valve cover is different from the 806 castings to the 241's so you will spend additional money to convert the 2001+ 241 head on your 98 F body.
Ive held off on getting pushrods until i know what length I will need, if I have the heads worked or milled.
What size valves could I go to? 2.02 intake & 1.60 exhaust or 1.55?
I have not decided on what cam to use. I have been looking at the FMS 224/224 114 cam.. also the LS6 HOT Cam, and TSP & SDPC cams..
Goal of the car is not a drag car.. but more of a road racing, canyon carving type. But I dont want something too radical, but have relatively mild street manners.
I know there are plenty of heads out there that will flow more than these, but Im sticking with these since they were basically free, and better than what I have. Plus im not looking to MAX out my engine on HP.. just some extra for spirited drives in the mountains and an Larry H. Miller race track in UT.
The 224 can you said should work fine, and the spring's won't mant a much bigger cam then that anyway.
As much work/money it is to swap the heads and cam I would wait some time and get you combo exact the first time, that way your happy and not wanting to change the combo in a couple months.
I personially would port those heads and get a good spring kit for the heads. Then do a good all around cam like a 224/228 cam and get some great mid range while still having some impressive top end.

i split the difference between 224/224 and the hot cam and went with Vinci boss 216/224 .551 , used stock length hardened pushrods, and added some rhoads lifters to give some stealth
