is the 98 oil pump bad?

is the 98 oil pump bad? a crankshaft bearing went bad in my motor earlyer this fall,
i dont have a clue why.. the car is nly driven 32k and is a adult owned and not abused from at least 99,
i hafe heard that the 98 has a bad oil pump,
when i noticed that the baring was gone i looked ad the oil pressure gauge and it was like 1/4 i idle ad 50%+ when i stept on the gas pedal,
the oil was fine.. both clean and enough of it.
i am goin to try to build me a goodf stroker this winter.. should i go for some performance oil pump? is the oem 98 one bad?
