So im going to rebuild an ls1 block from the ground up, new heads, cam, LTs, everything, and drop it into my 01 MMM camaro. My question is this... Im going to buy a used LS1/LS6 block and get it machined. How much have you guys paid to get the cylinder's machined and get the face's leveled down? basically i want the whole block machined down. thanks

Keep in mind some shops won't include the cost to use torque plates unless you specify. Also, it's usually necessary to align hone the mains, but even still, that's not always necessary if the block is in excellent condition. My friend's Mark IV 454 block didn't need to be align honed, and it will be a 700hp setup. The shop that did the work on it has done many radical setups in the past with a good reputation. When you shop around, figure in the cost for these extras that some shops consider.
My advice: Go to the most reputable shop you can find. If you have to pay maybe $100 more for a shop with good CNC equipment and guys who really know their stuff, it's well worth it over a rinky-dink place that hasn't touched LS1's before and may not be familiar with aluminum blocks.
