ZO6 cam?

ZO6 cam? i have a 2000 T/A and i'm looking around comparing different cams....how much hp, on average, do ppl gain from swapping cams? would a ZO6 cam be right for my car and give me some added power? if not, which ones would?
Well Ive been down your road and I see in your signature you have headers and some other stuff. The Z06 cam is a good cam but you do have to have a gear and rev the car to 6500 to get the perfomance. I done a 2002 Z28 6 Speed with 3.73 and most of the bolt ons and took it to a 11.91 on mickey thompson drag radials and the Z06 dont need a lot of tuning we just had a programer. Hope this helps but there is a lot of nice cams out there so dont just set to that. Good Luck
I just read an article posted on enginemasters website. They took a 2002 crate LS6 engine and it dynoed 417hp 401torque after break-in. Then they put Kooks longtube headers on, added a tune and it posted 20+ hp&torque. Then they ported/filled the throttle body and they were over 450 hp at the crank. It looks like you would be close. The only differences would be your stock LS1 intake vs. the better LS6, throttle body modifications (very cheap to do yourself), and the LS6 has a little higher compression ratio. The Z06 cam is a great to drive and you'll not notice any difference in drivability, it will however limit your top-end, but if all you want is 400+ rear wheel hp then you can easily get it with that cam and a few minor modifications to your car.

You wont get 400 rwhp with a zo6 cam. Not even close. ls6's also have better heads. If your going to put the time and money into a new cam, make it one that will be worth it. At least a tr224 or something close.
