Question about pcm tuning...

I spoke with Ed about tuning when I add the future high compression heads.. He said I am going to need a lot of timing taken out.. Can I just use a maft? How many of you guys are running 11.1:1 compression on stock pcm's with no issues?

Over 11.1:1 compression w/ stock MAF and hpp3 tuning and 0 problems and the car is running just great!

Jason I already have my pcm programmed by Ed.. I have the LS6 MAF.. Right now my car is dead on. No issues what so ever. Autotap is perfect.. My question would be is Ed Wrights programming going to adapt to the high compression or are they set in stone..

What kind of timing are you seeing now? I see 29* at WOT. I think this is plenty for where I'm at. You might have to send it back to Ed for some tweaking, but I would defintely try it as is and see what happens.

Be careful...a car with 10:0-1 compression with 28-30 degrees of timing will make more power than the same motor with 11:0-1 compression and 24 degrees of timing. The tune-up is critical and you need plenty of timing for ideal power.
Adding compression but backing off timing is self-defeating. You need to match the cam to take advantage of the increased compression that will allow you to continue using 28-30 degrees of timing.

My question is will my timing automatically drop off just by adding the heads? I have the T1 cam if someone could figure out if my timing would decrease with just the addition of heads above 11.1:1 compression.. Someone mentioned on another forum that going .030 on a 10.1:1 head would bring you up to 10.7:1. Would the same result happen to a 11.1:1 head?
