Default stock rocker ????

ok i just did heads intake and cam. i have a set of 1.8 crane gold rr's but i am going to wait to put them on for now. i put the stock rockers back on the other day and tightened them to 22lbs like everyone says but it leaves a gap between most of them. i spun it over a few time and still the same thing. i have 7.25 push rods and a good size cam. is this normal i used the search but did not see anything.

Sounds like you are using the pushrods that come with the Crane kit (7.250") and they will not work with stock rockers. You need to go with 7.400 or 7.425 depending on the base circle of the cam you have. Right now with the Crane pushrods, you have no lifter preload at all.

NO, you need longer pushrods is what he is saying.

I wouldn't put those on anyway. You will probably exceed the lift your springs can handle.

Well, it depends. The situation sounds like you had a cam or a stock cam with the Crane 1.8 rocker setup. The rocker push cup on the Crane rocker sits lower so you need shorter pushrods, hence the 7.25" pushrod length. If you keep all things the same but change rockers, you need the stock 7.400" pushrods. If you are going to an aftermarket cam, then you need to increase the pushrods by 1/2 the change in the cam base circle diameter. The Crane setup may still work, but not knowing what cam you are installing I'm not sure. You need to verify your entire mod package otherwise you could end up with major engine damage.

What heads?

Milling?

What cam?

Did you check PTV?

Did you check pushrod length?

Stock length is 7.400, but you need to compensate for the new base circle or you could end up with a noisy valve train. As for the Cranes, I would be careful about installing them without checking the PTV since there is a lot of duration on that cam. You should really check it irregardless.

i spun it over quite a few time with the spark plugs out of it so i could spin it fairly fast and no stoppage or nothing that feels weird.
