Default Cam recommendations for my A4

I'm getting longtubes for my car next month and was thinking of adding a cam while i'm at it. I need recommendations on what cam will work best for my car. I want a lopey idle and mean sound, as well as a power gain. Any suggestions? BTW, everytime I try to search server is too busy. Mods in sig.

226/226 on a 112 LSA and love it, this is on a 1998 A4 Z-28 with no stall. Installing a 6-speed before spring.

If you get a big cam, just make sure your tuner can tune well on an A4. It sucks when you get a bunch of surging, high idle, dying at stoplights and problematic hot/cold starts.

I see this cam alot these days. What is the lift of this cam? Do you need dual springs? How would go about ordering one?
Thanks, Greg

I agree, this shop is very reputable and has a good tuner and they are highly respectable in the local ls1 f-body community, as there focus is late model LSX performance.

Is it possible to get a big cam, with out having to get a stall. Cause I don't want to have to stall it, unless I have too..

From What I understand.. You dont NEED a stall to run a big cam, you just need the stall to get the car in the cams power range......

Someone please correct me if Im wrong?!?!

Since you tune there, Jeff Creech has a nice 228*/232* grind they make great power with. Ask him about it.

Yeah, I think that is an Ed Curtis grind if I recall correctly.

exactly. forgive my short answer but it was late and i was lazy lol. The stall isnt required, you can stick the cam in there and it will drive but it will be soooooooo slow it is not even funny. take the ms3 cam for example; it really wont get into good powerband until about 4000 rpms. the stock stall is like 1600(maybe 1800). Lets be nice and say after adding a cam the stocker will stall to 2300. so thats still 1700 rpms you have to drag through. Think of it as flooring your a4 car from a 40 roll. terrible spot, the car wont even move until you hit about 50. its the same principle. so yes you can have a big cam with a stock stall but it kind of defeats the purpose of adding big cam because you wont even get the power benefit from it. there are a couple threads on which cam is good for a stock stall so do a search.
