Hot engine knock?

Hot engine knock? 2001 TA Firehawk w/M6 5k miles
My car starts with no knock but when it warms up it has a slight knock in the motor,sounds like a lifter.(can here it at idle but not in the car)
Any ideas or past experiences?
Car is going to the dealer on monday for a pinion bearing and to take a look at the engine noise.

1) .. state your complaint
2) .. describe when you first noticed it
3) .. explain what the tech will have to do to
duplicate your complaint
Tech should:
1) .. verify complaint
2) .. pinpoint root cause
3) .. deem whether or not complaint justifies a
warrantable repair (these F-body's have
alot of charactor)
4) .. make repair
5) .. reaply step 1 to verify complaint is
satisfied

BTW ... these rear ends do make a little noise, if you've got a bearing going away you'll have a little metal in the rear diff oil sample.

Re: Hot engine knock? I also get a knocking sound at times. But after time mine has got to the point where it happens even after I just start the car up. It seems to only happen at low speeds, and when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd. It tends to do it more if i let up off the gas like in stop and go traffic, and have to hit it again. Then I get a lovely knock sound, sometimes the car even moves like the rear end or tranny is slipping. Is this the same thing?
