2 motivations behind this thread.
first, to get a list of stuff/part numbers in one place for those interested in building their own motor.
and second, i'm build a motor and want to know <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">
We all know you need the big stuff, block, crank, pistons, rods, heads, cam.
but how about the little stuff. gaskets, fasteners, bearings, rings, etc.
first off, i know ARP is making main and head fasteners now
http://www.arp-bolts.com
head studs
hex nuts - 234-4110
12-point - 234-4316
main studs
234-5608
what have people used for bearings, mains and rods? Cam?
For the new multilayer head gaskets in '02, same for both heads.
12565390 for 5.7L
12565391 for 4.8/5.3L
12565392 for 6.0L
anybody else? <img src="images/icons/cool.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

Rod bearings are Small Block Chevy, take your pick. In my case,
Clevite 77
CB663P
I got GM main & cam bearings due to availability, but they cost about 3 times what you should pay even from a discount dealer.
GM:
88890525 Front 4 main bearings
12369542 Rear main
(I don't have the boxes from the cam brgs, those
were installed by the machine shop)
ARP & Katech have rod bolts, if you're using a stock rod.

I just hunted down parts for my rebuild
I got valve seals from GM , taking them to
local parts supplier to crossover a aftermarket match.
engine bearings from Federal Mogul
ring set from SpeedPro
valve locks from federal mogul
1.430 springs , spring seat and retainers from Comp Cams
Cam from Comp Cams
Timing Chain from Comp Cams
Valves from Ferrea , local for me 10 miles away.
head gaskets are available from Mt gasket now
as well as GM and a custom gasket maker.
All other gaskets from GM
Main bolts and Head bolts available from GM
Studs available from ARP (expensive though)
Rocker Arms , Crane ,T&D ,Jesel (all very expensive)
Rods , various makers
Cranks ,Lunati , Cola (new)
Pistons various makers
I do have some part numbers for the aftermarket parts , but I cant list them now ,got to go
