Default PCM Tuning?????

Ok, I decided to go with the Thunder Racing 224 cam in my stock headed A4.

So here is the question, who should I have do the PCM tuning?

I have seen a lot of people refer to Ed Wright as Ed Wrong, is there a reason? Are there any other suggestions you guys have as far as who to get tuning done through?

Any stories you guys have good or bad would be great, and it hopefully will help me make an informed decision before I start pulling my car apart in the next couple of weeks.

TIA

Chuck

Yea, after 4 attempts with Dyno graphs and air/fuel charts, auto-tap logs and GM TechII logs, Ed still couldn't get my programming correct. 4 Attempts wouldn't be so bad if I was closer to Oklahoma (where he is) but I'm here in Chicago. In order to overnight the PCM to him, it costs me nearly $50. That's a total of $200. Now add in the cost of dynoing each time at $60 times each which is $240. That came to $440 to accomplish nothing.

One question he asked me was if I had the LS6 intake to which I said "no" only to find out that the cause of 12-15 degrees of knock retard I was getting at throttle tip in was because the EGR wasn't turning on. Eveidently he didn't listen and turned my EGR off despite me telling him I didn't have the LS6 intake.

He also speaks down to customers on the phone as if they're stupid.

I now have Steve Cole's tuning from the Turbo Shop. I didn't need to send him my PCM. He sends out a powerloader with your custom program (tailored to your engine specs) and you simply download it into the car. The only problem with Steve was that it took 3 months to get the power loader.

I heard similar thoughts on Ed's tuning, but I
took my chances and it paid off. I had gotten
my car back from MTI with their custom tuning when
I had them install their stage II heads and B1 cam
and my results from the track were pathetic (12.6).So I decided to give Ed a crack at it. Now
I'm running consistant high 11's. I do here alot
of hit and miss about him, but he got it right the first time. <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">

Bryan Herter (PCMForless) has established a pretty solid reputation. As soon as I finish my "project", I have a mail-order tuned PCM waiting to drop in the engine bay of my '02 WS6. It won't be perfect, but I know the car will start, and probably run pretty damn good, too. Four hours (maybe more, maybe less) of dyno time/fine tuning, and I'll be leaving very little on the table.

BTW.....how close are you to Schaumburg, IL? I'm almost positive Speed Inc. does dyno tuning......
