Well last night was headed out to the track and i think I spun a rod bearing It is knocking pretty loud (just got the car back running friday)

will the heads still be good to use if no skip the rest

I was looking at the TSP 408 iron block i have TSP ls6 heads if there ok will they still be ok to use on the new motor

can i run the tsp giant stick with the heads i have now
Usaully what kinda power do 408's make

sorry new at the whole short block game didnt think i would ever see the day of replacing my motor

I don't see why your heads would be bad if you spun a rod bearing. Double check the valves to make sure they didn't kiss a piston and call it a day.

 

i would check for eyelashes on the pistons but i'm sure your heads are o.k. are your heads like a stage 1 or 2 or what ?the stage 3 works well on a 408 and with a giant they should get you to the 500 + rw range with all the boltons and decent cr,somewhere around 11:5 - 12:0 or so.

 

i think they are stage 1 no valve job
so everything just swaps over

 

your gonna need some higher flowing heads than that for a 408. everything should swap over tho

 

how restrictive are the heads going to be
I dont want to screw up the first time go with a 347 and wish i would of went bigger

Back to your original question. Yes the heads should be just fine. I did the exact same thing on my LT1 (spun a rod bearing at 130k after making 500+ rwph for a few years) and the heads were JUST fine. I too, went to a stroker afterwards and the heads were also a hugh choke point and severly limited the motor to 400 rwph max.
