Default Streatable 500HP without huge lope

this question has been asked before but there was not a definative answer. Plus I have the book How to build high performance ls1.
according to the book changing the heads( GMP performance partS), cam (Ls6 02-04) and intake (ls 6) will get me at or close to 500HP. My question is this. If I'm running stock 243 casting ls6 heads and a differet cam and 90mm throtle body on fast intake will that get me close to 500HP. What are decent heads and cam packages that are proven to work?

i hope your talking about bhp...

if you are talking about rwhp then the only way on a stock 346ci is N2O

if your talking about bho your going to need ~ to 425 rwhp if you do 15% drivetrain loss...

cheaTR from thunderracing.com is a cam that sounds like stock which means no lope... it will get you in the 390 range with boltons

throw a good set of ported heads and a fast 90/90 combo and you shold be at ~ to 425 rwhp

im sure someone can help you spec the heads to that cam... i dont know dittaly squat about that...

I have the book also and they are speaking of BHP. My mild TQ cam 228/232, AFR 205's, and I am right at 511 BHP. This isn't hard to achive with the right combo. The ls6 heads will work to get there but you would have to run a pretty big cam which will cause a loss of streetability. My goal was to run mid to high 11's with a combo that was VERY sreetable NA. My car drives just like stock, no surging or idle problems at all. I have let a few people drive my car and they had no idea that I have done anything to it. They did say that my car was damn fast but really didn't know how extensive the work I have done on it was. Other combos I have run before you give a little to get a little kinda of a deal and this one is really the best of both worlds!!!

I hope that answers your questions. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

you might get something in the 228-232 range on a 114 with a good set of heads and all the boltons and set it to have a dcr in the 8.5 + range and through an m6 425-450 rw should be very possible. ^ 1stz06 has the setup that would be perfect for you.

1stz06.....did you go with the 90mm throttle body or larger injectors? Do you mind if I PM you for exact specs?
