strength of the Ls1???
I had a question about how strong the Ls1 is. Say someone wanted to do a single t-100, or Twin t 68's in a C5 on a Ls1 motor, what would be needed to handle it. Basically my quetion is, if it is completely rebuilt, rebearinged etc, blanced blueprinted, etc, would it take 1200 hp? I am asking b/c it has a 6 bolt main, so i can't see anything happeneing to it.

I haven't heard of an aluminum one getting close to that. I read somewhere that the head studs will pull out of the block over something like 600 hp. I have no experience with this and I think the iron truck blocks are better but I don't know how much they can handle.
I believe ARE has dynoed ~850rwhp on a 422 with a 300 shot. You're right, I would think some changes would be required to the block to seal the heads. (big studs and O-rings) I don't think anyone has yet attempted to surpass ~850rwhp.

I just hope these combos are tested and sorted out before they make it to the track. This is because the Supra guys will talk smack about how their bottom ends can handle 600 plus stock and our built motors can't. Anyway, 900 damn!

I'm sure someone will do a nitrous/blower or turbo dyno....
That would be interesting to see....if it doesn't blow up... <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Yes, apparently when you reach a certain level the heades begin to lift off. But, there is a company that has a solution for that. I think they'll probably sell it in the spring.
