Default Pulley questions?

Since ASP pulleys are now off of backorder, I am looking at getting the crank pulley for my 02' SS. With only 1500 miles on the car do I need to replace the seal while there. Some says yes while some say no need to. Looking for a little more input. Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the ASP, but with ATI aluminum damper, you have to use a special softer seal to keep from damaging the aluminum hub. ASP may be steel, and of course, much heavier.

I just changed the pulley. I don't know anyone who has replaced any seals.

I just installed my ASP crank and alt. pullies today. My car has 8400 miles on the odo and I didn't see the need to change it.

Some guys had a leak start after the pulley install. They changed the crank seal and it went away. With only 1500 miles I don't think I'm going to worry about it. Thanks for the replies.

I did like four crank pulley swaps and we never replaced the timing cover seal. None of them leak.
