Anybody with MMS 229 cam?
What are the specs on this cam? I haven't been able to find much on it, I'm deciding between the TR224, MTI Hammer cam, and this one when i find the specs for it. Also, what kind of headwork/springs would i need with this cam? would the 941's work ok for this application with stage one heads?
Thanks, and Great site colonel, and tony, and everybody else that made it possible! Keep up the good work!!

its like 229/220 578/578 114? i think. it may be 112 but i think thats it. not really worth it IMO. I would go for the Hammer, TR224, or T1, unless you have an auto. If so, id go for a 220/560/114 or the B1.

I would not run that cam in a stock shortblock motor. It's been proven over and over that anything over 224 is just about a waste on a stock motor. You are just asking for bigger driveability issues with the same amount of power. Go with the proven TR or Hammer.

It's 229 229 .578 .578 114ls, I believe. I've driven in and heard the car on 346 motors, but never owned one myself. It runs/drives pretty decent, and makes great power. What is your gear, weight, compression, and goals with the car?
For springs, MMS sells a single spring that will work (they give 1yr warranty on it).

I am running a 229 and I beleive it is a great cam. It makes a crapload of power up top, some low end torque is lost though. It has a nice lope to it. I have StageIIx heads and have had no problems so far. I am eagerly waiting to get a new clutch so I can get some time on the dyno.

Re: Anybody with MMS 229 cam?
Sorry i forgot to post my sig. The car is a 99 formula 6 speed, I plan on doing heads/cam/intake, maybe a few other things to it this winter depending on what my budget allows. I want something that's gonna sound like warren johnson's car at idle, yet still be semi-driveable and have a ton of topend. I race more so on the street/highway than i do at the track, so top-end is really gonna be important. Also how will this cam react to nitrous, say a 100-125 shot wet kit? I'm really aiming towards this cam, yet i want something that's gonna work well with my intentions, instead of spending a ton of money and still having a 12 second car heh

FWIW, there is a new 229v2.1 of this cam out. Picks up a bit more TQ down low. I'd want at least Stage II, or pref. IIx heads with it. This one is going in my AB.
