need to disconnect auto tranny from engine for removal...
I'm pulling my engine from the top with the help of a hoist, all I've got left are the engine mounts and the tranny. OK, I was all set to just "remove the 6 bolts" like everyone says, then it occured to me that since the torque converter bolts to the flywheel, and the flywheel to the engine, that there would be more to it than that.
Can someone give me a step-by-step on how to do this without completely removing the tranny???

but isn't the flywheel still connected to the torque converter? or does the bellhousing slide back so I can remove the TC from the FW?
You have to be careful sliding the torque converter out of the input from the tranny, you can easily tear the seal...I would unbolt the T/C from the flywheel, unbolt the bell housing and slide the tranny back on a floor jack
bell housing is disconnected and we're trying to figure out how to disconnect the TC from the FW..
just playing it by ear, I guess.

I unbolted the 6 bolts. Pulled the tranny off. Then there are 3 allen wrench type bolts for the flywheel. You have to unbolt the starter (2 bolts for it) to get to the fly wheel bolts. Then the TC comes off the Fly wheels and then there are 6 more(I think 6) more bolts to take the fly wheel off the engine.

Tried to disconnect the TC from the FW before the tranny was off, and stripped two of the hex bolts, so tonight we're pulling the tranny. Not the way I wanetd it to happen.... <img src="images/icons/frown.gif" border="0">
