Can silicone hose be used for oil applications?

Can silicone hose be used for oil applications? I've had my electric vacuum pump assisted PCV system on for a while, and I used a red silicon hose to suck the air out of the valve cover...well....after looking at it tonight, it appears the hose is bleeding. Bleeding oil and condensation.
I know some materials aren't meant to hold motor oil....is silicon one of them?

Re: Can silicon hose be used for oil applications? At my every day job I see silicon based hoses and "O" ring type seals used in coolant and low temp air induction applications. A few front main crank seals were silicon based years ago but they didn't hold up well over time.
For oil and fuel applications a (Butana {sp}) based material is used; "Butana" ... Something on that order anyway, I can't quite pull the compound name from memory at the moment.
Ace Hardware stores offer a Vinyl/rubber type low-pressure hose. It's clear and looks <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" /> "racy" ... I'm currently using a chunk going to a oil fired outside boiler that I use for supplemental heat to my house and garage. The hose is on its 2nd year, had aprox 700 gals of waist oil go through it and still is in excellent shape. ... Might be an alternative for your setup.
