Need help with a slippery question
Maybe I should have posted this in the roadracing section, but it's really an engine question.
I've noticed that on hard turns, the oil pressure will dip and return. How low it went I can't say because I only noticed the needle coming back up. Not a good situation. I looked into aftermarket pans, but none are available. The only solution seems to be either an accusump or a dry sump.
The accusump is less expensive, but it operates only after pressure has fallen and then the pan is overfull until oil is returned to the accusump cylinder. Seems to me like a bandaid.
The dry sump would maintain constant pressure, but costs about $1800 plus install. Moreover, A.R.E. claims a horsepower increase of maybe 25 with their unit.
Would appreciate feedback from anyone who is familiar with these products.
