I just ordered a B1 from MTI. They recommened the Comp 918s saying that "they are the best springs you can get without going to dual springs".

Hope that helps.

Ok, added the 918's to the list above....they look pretty puny, but its interesting to know MTI recommends them for their B1 cam.

interesting.

Visceral,
You mentioned the install of milled heads without adjusting the pushrod length accordingly. With milled .030" heads, do you think the better thing to do be to use 7.350 pushrods even though the stock length would probably work? I do have a B1 cam with a smaller than stock base circle and can't decide what to do about the pushrod length and shimming the rockers, etc.

BTW, does anyone know which dual spring setup that MTI is using on thier heads right now? Somebody told me that the dual springs are too much for the stock lifters, but according to the spring pressures listed here they are not a huge amount stronger than the 941s like I was told they were. Thoughts?

I think you will be fine with either 7.400 (stock length) or 7.350, Just my opinion.

Reguarding the 941s, yeah, they are just as strong.
But they are much smaller and made of a steel that needs warming up before much rev or it will break. The advantage to the larger spring is the availability of very durable materials. A spring that is too much for the stock lifters will be too much for just about any hydraulic lifter. I dont believe that my Comp ProMag CompR lifters would take any stiffer of a spring than stock. THe K-motion were too much for both stock and CompR. I think my current 99893s are perfect for 1.45" springs. In my vette I have 941s, but I would rather have 918s <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> I can change them someday when I do the heads, although I will want to run 1.45" springs then too. But for just a cam, when the spring have to stay small, 918s sound great.
