Default Does running lean give you more timing

I had a friend use his MAC tool to scan my car today. The car has been pinging more and more since doing heads and cam. The LTRIMS were around 0 with the MAFT base at +10. Under WOT, with the MAFT WOT setting at 0, the O2's were .5-.7 with timing between 34 and 40 degrees on three different runs. This seems pretty lean but I was amazed at how high the timing was going. We checked the TPS to make sure it was reading WOT - which it was. I have since added in +4 WOT on the MAFT with considerably less pinging. I need to recheck the timing. Does 34 -40 deg sound possible?

Your O2s were really low; your lucky you didn't break something. Get them up in .890 - .910 range.

26 - 30 degrees of timing at WOT in the upper rpms is normal, depending on your CR. higher CR generally requires less timing.
