Default Cam/Mod Advice Needed

I've studied, searched, restudied, and researched this stuff many times but I'd like some opinions on my exact combo plans. As you can see from my sig I have a mild bolt on '98 Formula. I ran a 13.01 before I even installed the Edelbrock Shorties, so they gained me next to nothing. At least they were only $90. Unlike many of you, I have an extremely small budget so I am attempting to build this car as cheap as possible. Even with all my mods I only have $7800 in the whole car. I'm hoping to show that it's possible to build a fairly quick LS1 for under 10K complete. I had planned on buying a TSP 233/239 cam until I found that a lot of people said the rod bolts needed to be swapped out if I planned on revving my engine that high. I do not have the time nor means to pull my engine to swap rod bolts. So I decided on a custom cam of my specs. Using Comp XE lobes, 224/228 @.050 w/ 110 LSA. I figure this will give me good low and midrange and only have to spin it to around 6100-6200, as well as give me that nice musclecar idle. As for additional mods they will be as follows: LS6 Intake, ported TB, Pacesetter LT's and ORY. Will these be enough to get me into the low 12's/ high 11's? Thanks in advance for the help.

im pretty sure you dont have to remove the engine to replace rod bolts, atleast not what i have read anyways

with the other mods you might be able to get low 12's, but gonna be traction limited and you have already been through a couple rear ends, but once you get that s60 & some sticky tires, it should be easy

for what its worth, i have a 98 and spin it to 6800 & spray on top of that... guess im feeling lucky

Sounds good to me, I am only going with a TSP228R cam, 3.73's, LS6 intake and custom tuned PCM from nelson perf. my car is my DD. I am worried about my rear end though, dont want it to break on me. so not sure if I sure get them just yet. or save up for moser, either way i have got a while before i get the money saved up for any of these parts and to have them installed.

I would think low 12's would be possible, to be honest i think if you got your 60 time down a bit right now you would be in high 12's maybe work on your launch a little.

Use Ktech bolts and there is no need to pull the engine. Good use of $159.00 or so.

With my MPH, I should be in the mid 12's as it is. Trying to launch it with a ten bolt out back is rather difficult. It's already came apart on me three times. I only launch around 2500 RPM! I called Texas Speed and they said my cam design should work well with what else I have planned, so I guess I am going to stick with it.

I have a 233/239 that I called and purchased from TSP and was never informed of changing the rod bolts. I think they would have told me this if it was highly recommended! And my limiter was bumped up by them.

You also have a 2001 car which had better rod bolts from the factory. I've got 140k on this engine, I'd like it to last another couple years.
