Question Cleaning ASSEMBLED Shortblock?

I am going to be installing my stock shortblock soon and was wondering if there is a way to clean it without taking it apart. It had been sitting for a few weeks uncovered and I am sure there is crap in the oil galleys and in the rings. I was thinking of hosing it down, but then the bearings and rings would be starved of oil on first startup. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Well, short of stripping it down, as long as it was not contaminated with large particles/debris and was limited to just normal dust, you could just take an air nozzle w/compressed air to it and get in all the little crevices that you can with that. But if you can see larger debris sitting on it, I wouldn't take a chance, just strip it down and re-clean everything with some mineral spirits. The type of environment it was sitting in will play a big factor in how much it was contaminated. Can you see any surface rust on the cylinder walls?

I was hoping there was a good way to oil the bearings after washing it even though it's all assembled.

Wherever a gasket mates up I would clean with some acetone, mineral spirits tends to leave a film.
