Default A/F gage help...

Where do you guys tap in for this? We were trying to install one of these last night on an ’02 LS1. The instructions said to tap into the O2 circuit, but looking at Helms each bank and each sensor has it’s own lead. Which one do you use? Can you just splice into the wire at the sensor? B1 or B2? And how do you tell the heater wire from the sig wire? Helms wasn’t very helpful in that area...

Thanks Brian <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

But the guy who owns this car is trying to spend no more money on this if possible. I know it’s only $18 but he’s shooting for $0... LOL!

It’s not for my car, so the choice is obviously his, but is there any way to do this without buying anything for it? Can you just splice into the O2 line? I know Helms warns against “repairing” O2 lines saying that it may degrade the signal, but I know a lot of guys extend them for LT header installs, so would tapping in for this be ok?

The main thing is trying to figure out which is the heater wire and which is the signal, Helms didn’t say...

You should be able to splice in anywhere *after* the O2 plug. From O2 -> plug it's stainless wire, and virtually impossible to solder. If you have a good gassless crimping gun you can do it, but I am guessing you don't. besides, you would have to re-do it ever time you swapped o2's.

if you splice in anywhere after the plug -> computer area it should be copper wire, which you can solder very easily.

I used the wires off the PCM for my signal for each A/F gauge. (B1SI, B2S1)
