Need Advice: Refresh Stock Engine Before Reinstalling? Well I am putting my car back to stock next month which means putting the stock LS1 back in. It has 58k miles on it and I was wondering if it would be worth it to refresh the motor(new rings, bearings, valve springs, etc) before I install it. I plan on selling the car in summer 07 so I would only have the car for another 7 months before its out of my hands. I am not sure if a "refreshed motor" would increase or decrease the car's value. Obviously that's another $500 or so of stuff I have to get, and then time to build it. All opinions are welcome. Thanks!
Assuming that the stock engine ran fine before you removed it and that there is nothing that needs repair, I'd just reinstall it. If it had problems (burned oil, etc.) then you need to correct that issue. The fundamental question is:
"Will I do better than break even on the work that will need to be done to refresh the engine?"

I'd just put it back in. Most people that see a "rebuilt" engine are automatically gunna think the car was beat on, espeacially with 58k on the clock. Just put it back together and never mention the other transplants.
