ET vs. Speed

ET vs. Speed I have a question. I've seen a lot of cars here and other boards that post their et's and speed on the 1/4 mile. I just read one with an et of 11.84 and speed of 114. Another runs a 12.6 with a speed of 107. My best time is 13.05 and 111.61 mph. Can someone explain to me the variances in these et's vs. mph. I know the mph is an average of a few feet at the end of the 1/4, but I would think there would be some correlation to these and there isn't really. What do these variations mean?
Re: ET vs. Speed differences are usually in the 60ft. and most importantly the transmission. the people with higher e.t.s, but also higher mph, are usually the 6speed guys. like, i run a 12.65 @ 106mph, but i have a 1.7 60ft. so that's why my e.t. is so low. and i have an automatic. then you get my buddy with a 6speed car running a 13.0 @ 110mph, but with a 1.9 60ft. this is the same day, same run, me vs. him. hope this helps

Re: ET vs. Speed ET depends mostly on the first 60' of the track. This is the area that you want to focus on, and doing whatever it takes to make that 60' time better.
In a full weight F-body, you only need about 112 mph trap speeds to get into the 11s, as long as you have an awesome 60' time (around 1.50 seconds)
Whatever amount of time you reduce off of your 60' time is roughly equal to removing 1.5 times that from your ET. That is just a typical approximation.
