Holy torque batman! FLPs->mac headers dyno inside
Ok, so, before you jump to any conclusions I have to say that this dyno graph shows *two* mods between dyno's.
Red line: Comp 224/230 Extreme lobe, .538/.538 114lsa, Mac midlength headers, no cats, through B&B catback
Blue Line: Thunder 224 on a 114lsa, FLP longtubes, no cats, through B&B catback
At one point I gained 42rwtq!@!#!@# This car is so much more fun to drive on the street now, except for my topend issue (clearly illustrated by this dyno, read more about it in the other thread).

Bummer that 2 variables changed. No way to tell what did what.
The bottom line is that you gained. That's always nice!

Are you referring to the choppiness of the graph, or the fact that the HP nosedives after 6100 rpm?
This really caught my eye because I have a Thunder cam as well and my HP drops off the same way up top. I'm pretty sure with this cam, the HP should pull good to 6500 then drop off. I'm wondering now if I have a weak set of valvesprings.

The graph is choppy because I turned smoothing off in the software to see what it was actually recording. 9 times out of 10 the dyno graphs they print have smothing set to at least 3 or so (out of 5).
It looks like a normal graph if I leave smoothing on.
It aint valve float guys, unless both 941's and 987's suck ***. First set of springs setup by IRS, second set by ARE. I'd hope both places know what they are doing.

I have the thunder racing cam 224 112lsa and my power seems to fall off the same way up top. But I have stock manifolds and haven't put headers on yet, they are coming soon but I figured the cam would pull harder than that on the top end, the powerband almost feels like the stock cam with more mid range. I am running the CC 918 springs.

I have the TR 224 cam...and this is making me consider maybe I shouldn't reset my limiter and dynotune...My car seems to pull the most on topend..but that is w/ stock programming and shifting at the rev limiter....I don't want to change the limiter to find out my hp nosedives.

Nineball, I remember your dyno...seen that one 3-4 times before I bought flps...but 42rwtq! gain is awesome. Im figuring some of that came from this thunder 224 cam.
James, its not the cam...or at least it shouldnt be. Its something else.

Not knocking your gains but I am not too impressed with the gains above 4500rpm. Also a pretty significant portion of that gain lower in the rpm range is from the the cam swap. (Maybe just under half of the gain is probably from the TR cam)
That header combo looks great for driveability on the street but pretty crappy for the track when you compare the cost differential to MACs. If you are looking for track performance (4000rpm plus) The MACs are a great choice if you are looking for value and great performance with the extra 800 bucks in your pocket and no banging, ground clearance issues etc.
Just my opinion of course, I am not trying to flame at all

Hey Jon,
Is your dyno graph above corrected? I didn't see anywhere on the graph the usual "CF", "SAE Corrected" or something similar. I'm asking because the first run was during the summer and the second during winter.

ChrisARE360, its been said time and time again that macs and FLPS give you about the same peak RWHP, its the midrange/lowend thats affected. I didnt buy flps to increase my peak. My car goes to the drag strip maybe a few times a year tops....however I drive it on the street nearly every day. The FLPS make it more fun to drive (except that I scrape the V-clamps on everything I drive over, and they leak).
Weatherguy, look at the sides of the graphs.
Loco, its a love/hate relationship. I hate the price, I hate the vclamps huge diameter on my lowered car, I hate the stripped out threads on the air fittings, but I like the power gain.
BigBos, they flow just like the macs I had.
