Default 2.02/1.57 Valves...

I've heard of a few people running heads with these valves.
I believe GTP uses them, and I've seen a lot of them making GREAT power.
Now, my question is, what kinda cam would compliment the slightly smaller valve sizes?
More lift/duration??? Or less?

Any one of the MTI cams would be good for that setup. the hammer cam is my favorite. oh a comp 224/224 590.

Realistically speaking you are not going to do anything different because of the valve sizes.

If all the other variables were constant and you had some serious testing equipment and budget you could probably find cam timing optimization differences for different valve sizes. But the differences we would be talking about would be pretty small, and the other factors (huge budget, all other variables controlled, equipment, etc.) aren't met.

I think you are looking for some general rule that says when xxx size goes down this leads to yyy, which means we want more zzz, etc. To many other factors for something like that though.

Just pick a cam that meets the requirements you have for power, drivabiliy, etc. All the suggestions here are excellent - the hammer cam, Thunder Racing 224 cam, etc. are probably the two top contenders. I would also throw out the 223/223 .58/.58 grind that TrahnZham is running - it's a favorite of mine.

I have 2.02/1.57 valves in my GTP heads, and am currently running GTP's 226/226 .591/.591 112lsa cam. I haven't done much testing with it yet (all the tracks are closed around here), but the car has picked up a little bit. I made one trip to Orlando with the new cam before they closed, but had some other problems with the car which prevented any "real" results. The car did run 123.55mph through the mufflers, compared to a previous best of 122.76mph through open exhaust in better air...

I don't think you need to really worry about matching a cam to your valve sizes. I think you need to concentrate on selecting a cam that compliments the flow characteristics of the heads...
