How long can a stroker motor last ?
If we say that a totally stock LS1 with some occasional street/track racing can go to about 80k miles before a re-build is needed (assuming regular maintenance is being performed), would it be true to say that a 422 motor can go 40k miles ?
This is also assuming that no NOS/boost applications will be applied to the motor.
How would the extra bore/stroke affect the engine longivity ?
Iam asking this because Iam seriously planning on getting such motor within months & I want to make sure that Iam making the right decision since Iam planning to keep my car for atleast another 2 years.
Thank you in advance

BTW, most reputable engine builders offer warrantees on those larger motors. For example, MTI offers a 2-year, 24K mile warranty on their 422ci setups, and encourage you to beat on them.

Iam not really planning on beating on the motor. I might do WOT only once per drive, and my car is not a daily driver either.
MTI seems to be doing some real good work

I have a 422ci motor, and would like to get 80K out of it before I pull it to make it bigger. I was just talking to Nick @ ARE today, and mentioning how I have a couple thousand miles on it now... Uses no coolant and NO oil.
now anyone can take a stock motor and break it in a weekend if they really wanted. if the motor is put together correctly, then you will get plenty of worry free miles. beating it and running it past its intended load (raising the rev limiter) is another story.
I would think that a LS1 will go more like 200,00 miles with normal driving.

Also what's your piston and ring setup? I thought it was pretty much a given with forged pistons 1 qt /3000 miles was normal oil usage. thanks

2200 miles and no coolant usage, and about 1 quart of oil so far due to break-in most likely. And yes, forged pistons tend to use more oil than hypereutectics. This is because they are manufactured to less diameter tolerances and expand more than hyper pistons. Expect about a quart every 3K miles or so. Probably more if you like beating on it all the time or run it hard before it gets hot.

2. With only 2,000 miles on it , how much oil usage testing could he have? Does it really not use any oil? If it doesn't, GREAT! I would just like to know.
I forget what the mileage was on the car when I picked it up.
I have changed the oil twice.
Maybe a wee bit of consumption, like 1/4 of a quart.
Car has not used coolant. My old 346ci motor made by somebody else used coolant due to issues.
In good weather it has not been ususual for me to drive 200 miles in a weekend.
