functional cowl hood

functional cowl hood I just put on my 4" cowl hood and I am considering making it fully functional. Has anybody done this or heard of anyone who has? I would like to know if I am going to see any gains before I cut up a perfectly good lid.

I was thinking that I could seal off the underside of the cowl except for the part that covers the air lid. Then cut the top off of the air lid and seal it to the underside of the hood so that all the air going into the hood would be forced into the air lid.
I would also have to place a filter either somewhere in the hood or make a raised tray for the filter to sit above the throttlebody opening so that no dirt gets into the engine.
