Default Valvetrain Noise on H/C Motor

Looking for some feedback on people with H/C cars and valvetrain noise as a result. Stock I did not really have much valvetrain noise beyond the injector ticking. I now have GTP heads/ CC 918 springs/ TR 220 Cam (Fast Ramps)/Crane Lifters/Cloyes Chain/CC Pushrods and have noticeable noise. It is most noticeable inside the car with windows up. The valvetrain reminds me of a "Sewing Machine" or the sound of a older VW/Porsche.The frequency increases with RPM's. I expected some noise, but was wondering if this the type of noise others are hearing, or it should it be more of the "solid lifter" or "diesel" sound. I fear what adding headers to this would sound like.

I got the same sound, all upgraded valvetrain is noisy, I still have stock heads, but that really doesn't matter... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Sorry to say, but it's pretty common. I've heard of some guys going to full roller rockers and adjusting the preload to help, but not sure. I'll be installing the 1.8 Crane rockers soon and will post the results. I've kind of gotten used to it, it's not that bad. See ya.

Are you sure the rockers are torqued correctly? (22 ft pounds)
If the heads were ground any... did you add spacers under the rockers to compensate? (.030, .045, .060)

If all that is correct. A little more noise is normal. But have you sure your set up is correct? If so...all is good and the "noise" is just "music" to compliment the newly installed HP.

Good luck.

your valves are traveling further and faster; their is bound to be some extra noise. Double check your install specs. Mine doesn't whine; it sounds mechnical.

Headers will make the valvetrain a bit louder too.

My valvetrain was actually just a tad bit louder than stock, I was very surprised. Having all the correct torque's and break-in can also make a difference. I coated my the heck out of my valvetrain with Mobil 1 before I fired it up for the first time.
