Default Ok,now need lift help!!!!

I think I've narrowed it down to a 224/230-114 cam.Just need to figure out what lift to go with.I know this is a big cam,but this is a only nice day driver and is going to be used as a demo car for my buddy's shop.We are going 224/230 because of the direct port N20 we are going to put on it and the 114 LSA because it is an A4.So if the cam experts can help me with lift I would really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!

You want to match the cam specs up to the head flow characteristics. Find out at what lift your heads produce peak flow, and go from there.

I believe ideally you'd want just a tad more lift than where the peak flow occurs.

Another factor that will come into play will be the availability of cam lobe profiles. Whatever cam grinder you use will most likely have a "standard" set of available lobes. It's not as simple as saying "I want xxxdeg. duration and .xxxlift." There's a lot more to a cam lobe than the raw lift/duration numbers.

Hope this helps some... <img src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

Hampton, you doing ARE stuff?

I REALLY would not go nuts with lift on a streetdriven car.

You doing double barrel springs?

I have run anywhere from 540 lift up to 619 lift!

Just because some heads might flow up to 600 lift doesn't mean you should go 600 lift. Maybe the increase in cfm from 560 to 600 might so marginal that it makes no sense to go with a 600 lift setup because you'll need to change springs every year.

I am running about 590 lift.

Think about how much you plan to drive your car.

My setup is such that I will put 6,000-10,000 miles on my car in 2002.
